Had the pleasure of photographing Natali, a company dancer from The Joffrey Ballet, here in Chicago. I can't express how fortunate I am to live in Chicago, a city with world class architecture, incredible locations and amazing dancers.

Simplicity Is Elegance

I prefer my images to tell the stories of the dancers...not props or crazy editing. Natali here is wearing a simple black leotard. Your eyes are drawn to her gorgeous lines and poses. Added a maxi skirt for a splash of color and showing movement.

Dancers Are Not Contortionists

While I understand the attention images of contortion brings, that's not what dance is about. Being flexible allows the dancers to perform, but that's just one of many tools a talented dancer possesses.
